Wen Redmond is a mixed-media fiber artist from New Hampshire who creates the entire structure of her one-of-a-kind pieces. Wen enjoys exploring her medium, expanding its perception, and pushing the boundaries to see “what if?” Wen’s fiber works include painting, natural printing, silkscreen, mono-printing and mixed media using natural fibers and paper. She has embraced digital technology in her work, and has created several signature digital techniques combining painting, photographs, fiber and digital media. Each work is unique and created individually. Wen has worked with fabrics her entire life, and she graduated from college with an excellent working knowledge of this medium. Wen’s new work varies from abstract expressionism using dyed natural materials and surface design to using original manipulated images in her innovative digital constructions, an unusual use of fiber. Redmond continues to explore her chosen medium of fabric to see what it can do, and to stretch its possibilities as art medium.
Artist Statement: I am quite passionate about my work. I continue to explore my chosen medium, fabric, to see what it can do, to stretch its perception as a valid art medium.
