She studied at the Leonardo Da Vinci School of Art, and the American University, both in Cairo, Egypt. Monique exhibits in national competitions and has won numerous awards for her oil paintings. She is a juried member of the New Hampshire Art Association, a Signature Member of the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society, and a Signature Member of Oil Painters of America.
Monique's paintings are characterized by their impressionist style and by their rich warm palette - an effect achieved in part through Ms Sakellarios' practice of priming her canvases with cadmium red. She paints wet on wet and the resulting works reflect a fluidity of style and an immediacy which capture her subjects with compelling integrity. Her landscapes are gentle, reflective worlds which are imbued with a quiet dignity and elegance. Monique continues developing her art, exploring different styles with her signature lush strokes and rich colors.
