Tom Pirozzoli “Swamptenlock”
22 x 28 inches, oil on canvas
Tom Pirozzoli is a self-taught artist who has been painting and drawing since childhood. Upon moving to Boston in 1974, the MFA became his home away from home. Pirozzoli devoured art books and filled countless sketchbooks and canvases. From 1975 through 1985, his travels - from Bolivia to Tibet - were recorded in watercolor, pen and ink. For the past 25 years, Pirozzoli's work has been shaped by a keen interest in the elegant simplicity and fanciful spirit of New England architecture, landscape, country furnishings and folk art. At play is a love for the natural world, an appreciation of the post-impressionist and an inborn connection to the Northeast.
